Cruise line private islands: can you save by booking independently?
No: on a private island every paid activity is sold by the cruise line, so there is no independent price to compare. The way to save is to skip or pre-book the paid extras. The exceptions are Harvest Caye and Isla Tropicale, which connect to real towns where independent tours exist.

Can you book excursions independently on a cruise line private island?
No. Private islands such as Perfect Day at CocoCay, Celebration Key, RelaxAway Half Moon Cay, Great Stirrup Cay and Ocean Cay are run by the cruise line, so every paid activity is sold by the line. The saving comes from skipping paid extras, not from booking elsewhere.
Are private island extras worth it?
The beach, basic food and loungers are included on all of them. Paid extras such as water parks, cabanas and day clubs are where the money goes; decide on those before you sail, because prices often rise on board.
Which private islands have an independent alternative?
Harvest Caye (NCL) is next to mainland Belize, but guests must use NCL's ferry to reach Placencia, so independent options are limited. Isla Tropicale at Mahogany Bay, Roatan, connects to the rest of Roatan, where independent tours are widely available.
